Cars were on display in the pit lane garages, were given slow laps behind a camera car, and were later permitted to take to the track for 20 minute test sessions.

The track was cold and damp and greasy from not much activity over winter.  Not good enough for any setup work, but good enough to serve as a shake down and to sort out the niggles that can waste significant amounts of expensive track time on a more cruicial test day.

St. Cross Electronics will be the title sponsor for the Monoposto Racing Club’s championship, which will be called the St. Cross Electronics Mono Championship.

In 2012 the St. Cross Electronics Mono Championship is expected to build on Monoposto’s position as the largest single seater racing championship in theUK, typically attracting entries of more than 50 cars for each round.  The Championship will have 13 rounds on leading UK circuits at race meetings organised by Motorsport Vision Racing.

St. Cross Electronics is one ofEurope’s leading cable assembly and cable harness manufacturers.  The company’s Managing Director, Dax Ward, who is himself a very competitive Monoposto racer, said: “Our partnership with Monoposto is a great way to further develop the presence that St. Cross Electronics has already successfully built in the motorsport marketplace.  Our business in motorsport is rapidly growing, we can be found on British Superbikes through to NASCAR.  We are not just a manufacturer, we design and engineer whole projects. MRC unveils 2012 plans

The Monoposto Racing Club has unveiled plans for a 13-round championship 2012, which will be its 54th year.

The 2012 Monoposto Championship will also feature non-championship rounds such as the Spa Summer Classic. “We recognise that the current economic climate makes racing difficult for many competitors,” said club chairman Nick Harrison. “But we believe that our relationship with MSVR has enabled us to provide the most cost effective single-seater racing championship, which should tempt more eligible cars out of their garages and onto the best circuits in the UK.”

01/12/11 – The Monoposto Championship is preparing for another strong season with MSVR after the release of their provisional calendar which includes a return to the famous Spa Francorchamps circuit.   

After attracting bumper grids throughout 2011, including a record breaking 53 car entry at the Silverstone Grand prix circuit, the single-seater championship is set to be just an bouyant in 2012, with the announcement of 13 championship rounds and three non-championship events next season.

The championship, which caters for many variants of single-seaters, will begin the year at Brands Hatch in March before ending the championship campaign at the challenging Cadwell Park in September. Monoposto competitors will also visit Donington Park, Silverstone (National), Mallory Park, Spa Francorchamps (Belgium), Snetterton 300, Oulton Park and the iconic Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit in 2012.

Monoposto Championship Co-ordinator Simon Davey commented: “Working with MotorSport Vision Racing we have been able to put together an excellent calendar for Monoposto in 2012, and as usual we will be dividing our large entry into two grids for all our Championship rounds. We offer excellent value for money racing at superb venues, with big competitive grids, and a very friendly paddock. We are still working on additional non-Championship races at top venues, so watch our website for the latest news.”

Superb 2012 F3 Cup calendar unveiled

The Club is in the middle of a period of deliberate rule stability, which started two years ago when it became clear that overall economic conditions were going to be challenging. There are therefore few changes to the Regulations for 2012; with the most important being as follows:

• Mono 1400 and Mono 1000 classes will be merged, becoming “MotoMono”. No changes to cars currently eligible for either of the merged classes are required.

• Chassis eligibility dates for Mono 1800, 1600, MotoMono will be moved forward a year, as is usual. There is no change to eligibility dates for Mono 2000 and Mono Classic 2000.

• A “Mono Heritage” Class will be introduced. This is for cars complying with previous Monoposto (Class “A”) regulations, that are otherwise ineligible. Entries will be by invitationonly, at selected Championship rounds (see the Provisional Calendar). Log books will be issued to eligible invited cars.

• In Mono Classic 2000 a specific engine eligibility category will be introduced for Zetec 1800 engines compatible in specification to those used in Formula 4.

• In Mono 1600 the regulations will clarify the eligibility of certain Boxer-type engines

The seminar will include advice on:-

• Choosing, buying and preparing a racing car
• Equipment – race kit, tools, trailers and towing and transponders
• Race day procedure – setting up, scruitineering, practice and the race
• Race craft – flags, driving standards, being quick, the start, passing and do’s and don’ts
• Admin – licences, ARDs, Regulations, Officials, Membership etc
• Useful contacts – spares, race parts, teams and where to get help and advice
