Re: Provisional 2013 race calendar....

Looks a great set of circuits. Well done Simon. You can never please everyone all the time. It shows the changing times when the cost of getting to the circuit is now a serious part of the overall cost of competing. It used to be entry fees/tyres and the like but nowadays a trip to Angelsey is daunt...

Re: Ztech class

I have just spent the past few workshop hours converting my F4 spec Van Diemen to Mono 1800 spec. I've got rid of the carbs (also MBE ECU, Webber 40s and manifold-if anyone wants them please give me a call) and retro fitted the Zetec loom, manifold and Pectel ECU. So, assuming it runs and doesn't me...

crankshaft

I recently bought a second hand crankshaft from a Ford Mondeo for my Zetec engine. I think I may have got the wrong one. This one looks much stronger.

Re: Which circuits will Mono/F3 race next year & get good gr

I am one of the guilty ones that only go to races that are reasonably close to my home in the frozen wastelands of Yorkshire. I love racing at Anglesey for example but I just cannot justify to myself the hassle of a 5-6 hour journey in my truck that does 15mpg with fuel at £1.50 a litre. Cadwell is ...

Alex Zanardi

Just seen on the BBC website that Alex Zanardi won his hand-bike time trial at the Olympics for the Disabled. (Paralympics is not a word in my view but I am a pedant). I am awestruck at his determination and strength at the age of 45. Like an idiot I ran my own foot over last weekend whilst pushing ...

Are they the gold coloured things that fit inside the hub/bearing thingy? Six long bolts and some nuts that always undo themselves?

Re: Ralt RT3 at auction

That's funny because I seem to remember when he was in F3 Senna drove a white Ralt with 'Pool' written on it. I think he may have only driven this recently sold car once... Mind you every RF82 ever put up for sale in UK has been driven by Senna and of course all Formula Renaults for sale have been d...

Re: Futile gesture

Thanks gentlemen, I'm sure Mr Ecclestone will sit up and take note now... My little tirade reminded me of the late seventies when I was living in a London School of Economics hall of residence. We used to have very earnest student union meetings, write a letter of condemnation of CIA activity agains...

Futile gesture

In a totally futile gesture that I hope is repeaated by many I will not be watching the Bahrain Grand Prix this weekend. Bahrain is a country where doctors who treat the injured are arrested and tortured. This has happened to doctors who trained with me in London. The country appears to be run by ba...

Re: Pre-season visitation

That's funny, something similar happened to me. Last week I was changing the oil in the garage and I spilt some. It made a pattern on the floor. I looked at the emerging image and I was amazed to see the face of Simon Davey forming from the drops of lubricant. It was only momentary as it rapidly tra...

Re: Appendix J - Changes

I'm glad that I'm not the only person who didn't know what those triangulation bar were for. I just assumed it gave the the wishbones a bit more rigidity and strength I had no idea they were there to try and prevent us from getting orthopaedic surgeons out of bed on a Sunday night. It's nice to know...

Re: Anorak alert

Oh dear, I rather like that book shop, my wife (for she is a good woman) gets their book lists sent to her. So this Christmas my stocking included a book on race car aerodynamics (lots of physics-yummy)and a very nice book on Elio de Angelis, in fact I think the Elio book was a freeby as Mrs Griffin...

Anorak alert

Just to prove what a sad and empty life I must lead, I recently found this website. It contains more photographs and details of racing cars than I have ever seen before. Many happy hours of viewing promised to those of us that find these things interesting. No doubt this site is well known to many a...

Re: new here

Is that a Formula 1st? Weren't they the transverse engined single seater? I wondered where they had all gone.
As Tristan says, a nice bunch in Mono. As Graham Hill says a better class of person at the back of the grid. I'm sure that won't include you.
