Re: Formula Ford Festival 26th & 27th October

If they were replaced by the AVON guys they'll more than likely be ok. Check the model number on the tyre side wall it should read: Front 8810 Rear 8811. There should also be little white barcodes with each tyres serial number on it. At the festival you'll only be able to use two sets of slicks duri...

Re: Formula Ford Festival 26th & 27th October

Are you not running standard tyres already Pete?? As far as I know Ashley always did. BMTR are your best bet for a new set.

Re: ride height

1/. Engineer the car to suit the rules not the rules to suit your car. 2/. Learn to drive the car at the 40mm ride height 3/. Buy a car that was designed to run at 40mm and doesn't look daft. The rules are set to challenge the Drivers / Teams / Enterants as well as the designers in an environment th...

Steering Wheel Extensions

What is the best way to extend the steering column on a single seater? So that I can sit further back? I have seen plenty of spacers for sale on Demon Tweeks and the like, but mine is the three bolt triangular design. And they type they sell have more holes arranged in a circle! Are there commercial...

Re: Battery Cable......

Just as a foot note to the above... From an engineering perspective, it might be a good idea to consider a cable that can carry the same current (or greater) than the maximum your battery can deliver. So, if you are running a Redtop 15 you'll want a cable that can carry 190A. Personally, in a racing...

Re: Battery Cable......

Matt, Please see the technical document regarding "Cable Sizing" on the following page of our website http://www.formulafordzetec.co.uk/formula_ford_zetec_025.htm The document gives suggested cable sizes for specified loads including those for starter / battery cables. ALL CABLES should be...

Re: Does changing tyre width change wheel rate?

Many thanks for your input. I'll see how we get on. I'm expecting proportionally greater rear grip, however I've never struggle with understeer before, so hopefully this will if anything even up the balance. It's got to be worth a try since the tyres were free!! Unfortunately I can't go to the full ...

Does changing tyre width change wheel rate?

I’ve got a technical query regarding wheel rate. I run a Van Diemen RF03 Zetec in Mono 1800 and F4. Until now I have only ever run the standard width Zetec tyres; 6.0” front, 7.0” rear. Over the winter I have acquired a set of FF2000 (Pinto) tyres; 6.5” front, 8.2” rear. Whilst the centre of the tyr...

Re: Can anyone give me a Dummies guide to gear ratios?

Am I right in thinking the FVauxhall Jnr has an LD200 Gearbox? If so please take a look at our website http://www.formulafordzetec.co.uk Go the ‘Technical Resources’ section and under ‘Gearbox’ you will find all the information you need. There is an Excel spread sheet which you can download to calcu...

Re: Trailer box conversion

Try Mike Gardner

http://www.gtmotorsportuk.com/

He's an agent for BJ Trailers and does some really nice bespoke trailer covers. All fabric, but good quaity probably ligher and cheaper than plastic/GRP. He's up at Newark probably 2/3 hours North of London depending on where in London you are.

Re: Snetterton 300

Has any one got any ideas on gear ratios for the new lay out? Looking at the map the new circuit joins the back straight further down, shortening it, however it does look like a quicker corner than the original, so I'm intending to go with my normal Snetterton ratio's. Any other opinions??

Re: Formula Vee to run in Mono 1600

I'd just like to indicate my support to allow FVees to race in Mono 1600. As you all know I'm new to Mono Club and I've been really impressed by the frendly/helpfull/relaxed atmosphere. As we all know grid numbers are the key to club motorsport so we need do all we can to attract new members. Lookin...
