Re: Formula 4 - no not that one...

750 have supposedly sold the rights the the F4 name to MSVR. Wonder what will happen to their own ss series?

Re: Formula 4 - no not that one...

An interesting development when FR & F Ford ecoboost have struggled. Seems to be aimed at the BARC FR market to me, but is it really necessary? Are there really the drivers to fill it? They'd be better off backing "Mono 1800" or a "Mono 1600 Duratec" series in my opinion. Wonder what 750mc think abo...

Re: Monoposto, should it expand?

I see that the Masters Historic Racing organisation are planning a Formula Libre event at Oulton Park in March. http://www.racecar.com/Motorsport/News/Single-seater-Allcomers-race-for-Oulton-Park-Masters-Raceday/46489.htm The plan was also featured in the 2 Feb 2012 Autosport mag & it seems that Mon...

Re: Mental Capacity

I must admit that most pilots & good racing drivers (& members of the Special Forces, too) don't seem to have much imagination, because none of them ever seem to think "what if it all goes wrong", unlike me!

Re: Mental Capacity

I have worked with a fair few Sea Harrier pilots in the past (and GR9, Tornado, various helicopters etc etc) and I recognise the description that Tristan posted. Some pilots were obviously bright but not exactly rocket scientists, but they could all multi-task & they all had the ability to do certai...

Re: Monoposto, should it expand?

Well Castle Combe seems to be investigating a Libre series for later this year. 3 or 4 races to start with, interestingly called Formula MonoLibre! Anyway, could it be a place for all those F3000 cars??? http://www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4524 Castle Combe & noisy F3000 car...

Well, I think he has plenty of suitable parts in stock, having bought most of Ray Rowan's TOMs stuff. I'm sure he'd be delighted.

Re: Mono Budgets - How much do you spend per season?

I, too, feel very fortunate to be doing somethiong I adore (no matter how badly) & I never thought I'd get the chance to ace in all those years spectating around the country. As for discussing "budget" with Mrs Y - you have to be joking. She knows now to move away a discreet distance whenever Dermot...

Re: Mono Budgets - How much do you spend per season?

Like Patrick, I am out of date now but I used to reckon I ran the FVJ & V-L for an average of about £500 per race each, that was using used tyres & I used Dermots services to help me out. That also included the fact that sometimes Dermots costs were shared with someone else like Spawney Whippet, Ton...

Re: "Pro" Teams in Mono

"Pro" must clearly mean being paid - if we are talking about drivers, then there's probably only a dozen or so pro drivers in the UK. Even in BTCC there are probably only a small handful & in British GT this year there were probably two, Alan Simonson & Matt Griffin at a guess.

Re: Which Class 2011?

Could always put a motorbike engine in it & run it in Mono 1400, I suppose. Isn't that the way m/b engines started in Mono, with a converted F Renault chassis? (Peter Dittman?).

Re: Which Class 2011?

Did Alpa make a Formula Alfa Boxer version of their F Renault car? I know that several F Renault manufacturers did, inc Van Dieman & Ermolli. The car was the same from the roll hop forward but had an Alfa Boxer engine midships. May be that would be a different but good alternative to the Renault mot...
