Mallory Testing

Postby RedRedWine » Tue Mar 04, 2014 9:10 pm

I was informed by Mallory today that car testing starts 5 March (tomorrow as I write) and is every fortnight. The alternate weeks are bikes. Half a day was quoted to me at £170, £270 for a full day. 01455 842931.

Whether this means the track license is sorted I do not know.

I have not received a fee for this free advertisement.

Since we received the info from Mallory on which Tony's post is based, we now have a further update from Mallory about testing:

---------------

Car and bike testing will alternate each Wednesday.

Costs for advance booking: Cars - £250 full day, £135 half day (morning or afternoon) (on day £270/£150)

All vehicles must be silenced to ACU or MSA noise levels (105 dBA)

First car day is on Wednesday 17th March.

----------------
There is a new website under development at http://www.malloryparkcircuit.com which will have a schedule of Wednesday practice days, and you will be able to book using an on-line facility. In the meantime call 01455 502214.

While £135 for half a day is a bit more expensive than in the past (also bearing in mind that Mallory does usually divide its testing into open and closed wheel sessions on busier days), it is probably still the lowest cost regularly available car testing at a central UK circuit.

I have rung Mallory today to enquire whether open wheel cars can test, and they confirmed that open wheelers are OK for testing.

I suggest that anyone with queries about testing at Mallory rings the circuit on the number above to get up to date information.

The spies at Mallory have reported that car testing was in operation today (19 March). There was mandatory noise testing to 105dBA but it was done very professionally - a coned off open space in the paddock - and by very pleasant people.

There weren't many cars there (though an Aston DP214 replica was rather nice even if it wasn't a Mono car). There were a few 750 sports cars there which seem to have similar engines to the Moto class (tuned 1000s or Haybusas?) and so if they can get to 105 I don't see why ours shouldn't. In fact there was a Mono bike engined car present and it passed noise restrictions.

The cafe is up and running with the same ladies and the same lovely tea. It ought to be listed as a national monument.

The onsite shop (Shaws Motorsport) looked to be closed/unoccupied.

Hope this is of some use to somebody.
