David Cox writes:

"I heard the sad news this morning that Phil has died. Those that have been around in Mono a while will have known Phil as an active Mono racer, sometime Secretary of the Club and father of Nick and Chris who both raced with us until marriage, children etc intervened. Phil had a serious heart attack around 20 years ago that curtailed his racing but in recent years he managed to recover his racing license and had done the occasional race. Phil was a lovely, enthusiastic, indomitable fellow who never let his health stand in the way of what he wanted to do. His enthusiasm for racing, cars, karts and motorcycles was irrepressible and he was always great fun to be with. A sad loss."

I would like to endorse that, Phil was always a pleasure to see and I cannot recall him without a smile on his face.

Condolences to Nick, Chris and the entire family.
