Mike Hinman, Chairman of Stoneguard, has been a keen member of the club for the last 5 years. He has lost many races and won a few. The camaraderie of club is the key element of his involvement and enjoyment.

Stoneguard has been pleased to sponsor the club for the past 4 years.

The company has been trading for 43 years and has established its reputation in restoration of public, and commercial properties with offices throughout the UK.

Seeing that the market was changing Mike started to look for other business opportunities. One such product was Protec. Stoneguard Protec is a lightweight Steel Framing System, which is very adaptable. With fast and accurate production it works well within the construction industry. This adaptability makes it easy to attach modern and efficient installation materials. So rendering material can be easily applied. Further development introduced many other façade applications from terracotta to light weight stone panels.

Mike has a keen interest in environmental issues and has structured Stoneguard accordingly to make full use of this technology. Meanwhile, Professor Saffa of Nottingham University was trying to build a C60 research house within the campus. After a chance meeting at an exhibition the professor soon released that Stoneguard light weight steel framing system was the ideal solution to his construction problems. The Stoneguard C60 research house was started with the University and Stoneguard working together with a common ambition.

The purpose of the project is to build a house with modern technology and reduce carbon emission of the house by 60% as laid down by the government in a white paper.
